We are really pleased to offer our Year 5 pupils a trip to the Herstmonceux Science Centre in May. This is to support our Science curriculum and will include the opportunity to take part in various and exciting activities.
These include a guided telescope tour, a spectacular Science show and the chance to experiment with interactive, hands-on equipment. There is also the Discovery Park and Water Planet.
As we speak, all of the children in Year 5 are learning about the lives and careers of David Bowie & Blondie to link in with our exploration of the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s!
We would love to invite you along to our showcase evening of these two musical greats on Wednesday 6th March at 6:30pm.
The show will provide children with the opportunity to dress up and sing some of their classic hits.

As we’re sure you are aware, first hand experiences are an extremely effective way of bringing learning to life for children. With this in mind, we are very excited to offer the Year 5 children the opportunity to visit Butser Ancient Farm in support of our current history topic, the Anglo-Saxons.
The trip will take place on Wednesday 17th October, leaving at 9:00am and returning at approximately 3:30. Your child should be in school at the normal time.

Year 5 Design and Technology Project
For our DT project we will be investigating moving toys towards the end of term. It would be great to have a variety of examples to show the children. If you have anything that could be brought in for us to look at we would really appreciate it.

On Thursday 28th June the year group are going to be walking to Goring Beach to investigate the most efficient area to build wind turbines in Worthing by testing wind speed as part of our Geography renewable energy topic this term. In May 2018 we will be going on our annual year 5 residential trip. Mill Rythe is a JCA run camp which is based in Hayling Island, Hampshire. The centre offers great facilities, quality accommodation and most importantly fantastic activities. Possible activities will include; raft building, team activities and zorbing.
We will be holding a meeting in school at 5:00pm on Tuesday 19th September when we will give more details about the trip and answer any questions about the week. We strongly encourage you to come along to the meeting and hear what is planned so that you can discuss the trip at home and make an informed decision about your child’s participation.
