Year 5 Maths – W/B 15th June 2020

This week we are looking at area and perimeter.

Lessons 1 & 2

This link will help support today’s lesson:

Using the squared paper provided your challenge (should you choose to accept it) is to draw an L shape, estimate the perimeter and then measure it.

For an extra challenge, you could try drawing your initial as a shape then estimate/calculate the perimeter. You could also work out the difference between your estimate and the actual perimeter.

Remember to measure accurately and use column addition 

Lesson 3

This link will help support today’s lesson:

Using the squared paper provided we’d like you to draw a rectangle, measure the sides and then calculate the area. This could be quite challenging so you may want to measure the sides to the nearest CM before multiplying.

Lesson 4

There is a range of resources for this lesson. Choose an activity based on your confidence.

There are some challenge questions where you can apply your knowledge using the squared paper available.

Lesson 5

Spend this lesson improving your speed on TT Rockstars. Work in Studio so that you can improve your average speed per question answer. You can also explore MyMaths, focusing on any unit of maths that you have struggled with.
