Any lessons or resources that require the use of YouTube or other social media platforms should be supervised by an adult.
Lesson 2
Play video on how music is used to enhance film and how it is created (How music can change film). Spend some time watching and discussing the range of other videos, such as ‘Sweet Sound Design Tricks’ and the ‘Emmy nominated’ one. Even though some of this is a bit tricky to grasp it breaks down how to make sound effects for film.
Using the film trailers give the choice of Jungle book or Captain America or do both if time.
First section of the lesson is based on watching trailers and thinking about how music is used for effect in film. If any instruments are available at home, children can then have a go at creating a piece of music based on a short clip/trailer. However, if there are no instruments, this lesson can be based on music appreciation, and the children can study the trailers and think about what they see and hear, and how the two work together. Children can try to use key music terms like ‘dynamics’ and fill in the music appreciation template sheet if they have time.
Children could also have a go at the ‘Sweet sound design tricks’ videos, and try to discover some of their own.
