Year 3 Activity 2 – W/B 13th July 2020

Activity 2

Can you remember how wind turbines produce energy? If we were to build a wind turbine at school, where would be the best place and why?

Can you make your own mini wind turbine? The proper word for this is an anemometer- tricky to say I know! You can then test the wind speeds at various locations. Your garden, your road, the beach, the park etc.

How can we measure wind speed? What do we need to count? How can we do this? What will make it a fair experiment?

Have a look at the pictures below of anemometers and work through the PowerPoint/instruction sheet to build your mini wind turbine.
