The Highway Man
Lessons 1 – 4
Using the work you have done so far on The Highway Man, you are going to create your own ‘Choice of response’ writing piece. You can choose from: diary writing, a persuasive argument, poetry, a play script or a newspaper report… or all of them!
You will be using the events of HWM as your starting point, for example writing a news report of the fateful night, creating a diary in the 1st person as Bess or Tim the Ostler, re-telling the events as a play or trying to persuade one of the characters to act differently within the poem in a letter form.
There are lots of planning and publishing sheets to choose from… get creative with your writing, remember to check, edit and include the key features of the style you have chosen.
